Crayonic RTLS

Status: In development. Product details and timelines are preliminary and may change before release.

Overview

Crayonic RTLS (Real-Time Location System) extends the Crayonic wearable ecosystem with indoor-location and personnel-safety capabilities. It builds on the existing Crayonic Badge and Bridge platform to add location awareness, zone policies, and on-badge emergency actions such as a Panic Button.

Planned Capabilities

  • Indoor location tracking — continuous position data for Crayonic Badge wearers inside a configured facility
  • Zone policies — define safe zones, restricted zones, and transition rules (e.g. automatic workstation lock when a user leaves a secure area)
  • Panic Button — a discreet on-badge action that triggers an alarm in the management console with the user's last known location
  • Lone-worker safety — check-in intervals, no-motion detection, and alerting
  • Audit trail — timestamped location events stored and exportable for compliance and incident review

Integration Points

RTLS is planned to integrate with the rest of the Crayonic stack:

  • Crayonic Badge — the wearable that produces location beacons and triggers Panic Button events
  • Crayonic Bridge / anchor devices — provide the reference points for indoor localization
  • Crayonic Device Manager — receives location and safety events alongside existing security events; role-scoped dashboards for safety officers
  • Crayonic Credential Manager — policies that combine identity, credentials, and zone membership

Typical Use Cases

  • Industrial and healthcare facilities — personnel tracking, emergency response
  • Secure labs and data centres — zone-based access and automatic workstation locking
  • Hospitals and care homes — lone-worker protection, panic escalation, response-time metrics
  • Critical infrastructure sites — live headcount and evacuation support
